Vandaleur’s father is dead, having lost the family fortune, and Vandaleur only has the android which, if it works correctly, can bring in more than enough income to support him in the manner to which he had become accustomed. It is too good a story to let lie. While a robot was accused of committing a murder in one or more of Asimov’s works, I can’t remember any in which one became a serial killer. In any case, the first fahremheit keeps jumping back and forth between the two, or encompassing the two.
